Oh hi there!
[Warning for use of the word bloody, hell, dumbass and pshhhh]
Well … has anyone else besides Australia actually had this test?
Wait,a few years back it was called a BST, then LAN test [literacy and numeracy] and now its NAPLAN. And I bet even heaven almighty has no idea what that actually means. I’m guessing the words literacy and numeracy are in there somewhere but seriously.
I think its actually a waste of time. Some smart people in our Government decided to see if the youth of Australia were smart enough to make it onto the ‘smartest country’ list. Pshhhh like hell. I thought we were already on there to begin with.
But, yeah. The test is still the bloody same even if its name has been changed too many times.
English: Language [ie. punctuation, spelling], Writing and Reading [comprehension]
Maths: Calculator and Non-calculator
Already done the Language and Writing tests today, and apart from the fact that my hand my be in a permanent cramp, I managed to miss my normal lessons. Oh fun!
And I don’t think anyone calls it BST anymore. Its either LAN or NAPLAN [which always reminds me of nappies when we say it like 'NAPLAN'].
Person A: Have you got the BST today?
Person B: What’s a BST?
Person A: Uhh … I mean the LAN test …
Person B: Oh, that thing. Right, well yeah.
Person C: Wait … NAPLAN, right?
Person A and Person B: *face palm*
And that is exactly what happens nowadays. No joke. I had that conversation this morning.
Hmm and the school’s comment, I quote, was:
‘Just try your best because it does end up reflecting on how well you’ve been taught.’
In other words meaning:
‘Answer it all correctly. We don’t want to look like a bunch of dumbass teachers.‘
Ho yeah, that’s exactly what they meant. I know it.
Well, that’s all for now.
